2012 running goals

What are your goals for 2012?  Put ’em in writing, and you’ll have a club full of runners encouraging you to succeed.  Here are a few categories of goals to consider.

Achievement — PRs (personal records), finish a marathon, etc.

Training — Sign up for a training program, add speed work or hills to your training, keep a running log, healthy eating goals, etc.

Participation— Regularly attend one or more of the PGRC weekly workouts (such as the National Harbor morning runs or the Saturday morning Greenbelt Park runs).  Participate in a race series (e.g., MDRRCA, Buddy Attick fun runs, or Women’s Distance Festival).

Giving back to the sport/club— Volunteer for races or as a pace coach in a training program, do trail maintenance, learn race timing or race management, etc.   And if you get injured and can’t accomplish your training or achievement goals (as happened with me this year), you can still accomplish your volunteer goals 🙂

We hope you will share your personal goals, and then work to achieve them!

And don’t forget to share your 2011 accomplishments.

  1. More….more strides, more tempo, more miles, more races

  2. My goal is to break 2:00 for a half marathon. And to continue to get faster, fitter, and find what works best for me in a sensible way.

  3. I’d like to accomplish PRs for 5K, 8K and 10K this year!

  4. My goal is to actually run again. 😦

  5. My immediate goal is to run the club challenge in 95 minutes or better. Then I’ll think about running a half marathon someplace.

  6. Goal is to run a sub 6:00 mile. I made it the last 3 years, but it is getting tougher every year.

Other goal is to run a sub 21 minute 5K. Did not make it last year.

  7. stay injury free as I return to running and complete the Titanium Girl challenge. participate in club events

  8. My main goal this year is to enjoy my running and work on getting a little bit faster. I would like to finally break 2 hours in a half marathon which involves shaving 35 seconds off my current half PR. Doable right? I still need to find a half that i can run though? Another goal i have is not be persuaded into another marathon by certain people…..you know who you are 🙂

  9. Do PGRC track workouts this year, explore some new trails, and keep enjoying running.
