Poker Run and Race Management Seminar!

Hi runners! We had a great turnout for the first run in our Summer Race Series last night! And I hope to see more of you next week. šŸ™‚ Thanks so much to Elaine, Funmi, Cass, Wanda, Dan, Clare and Gary for being our first round of volunteers (did I forget anyone?)! And the ice pops were AWESOME, Elaine!

But for now, on to the next event! I hope you’ll join us tonight for the annual summer tradition – the Poker Run at Buddy Attick Lake. In this race the best HAND wins, not the fastest runner. (Yes, we’ve had winners from the Running Start program in recent years!) Don assures me that if you cannot complete all three laps around the lake you will still get a full hand of cards so you can play.

Prizes go to the best two poker hands. Refreshments post-run include subs, watermelon and, of course, water! Meet at 6:30 p.m. at the Crescent Rd. picnic area. (I HIGHLY recommend parking at our usual spot near the Community Center and walking over to warm up — parking at Crescent Rd. is limited and some of it is restricted and you WILL get a ticket! Don’t risk it!)

The Race Management Seminar is half full — please send me a note if you plan to attend (president@pgrc.org). It’s Saturday, following our regular club run in Greenbelt Park, from 9:30 to 11:30 at the Greenbelt Community Center (we will have breakfast for participants). We could REALLY use the help with upcoming fall races — I encourage you to attend!

See you at the Poker Run tonight!
